Man arrested in Arcadia found to be wanted out of state after being released from prison too early

After a man was arrested on battery charges in Arcadia, officers discovered that he had an out-of-state warrant after mistakenly being released from prison too early. According to the Arcadia Police Department, officers responded to a reported disturbance involving James Hand. When officers arrived at Hand's residence, he attempted to conceal his identity. Officers then identified the man as Hand and attempted to detain him. Hand resisted, resulting in a brief struggle with officers before he was safely taken into custody, APD said. Hand faces charges of aggravated battery, domestic battery and obstruction. He is currently being held without bond at the DeSoto County Jail. After taking him into custody, officers discovered an out-of-state warrant for Hand's arrest. Hand is wanted out-of-state after being mistakenly released from custody and failing to complete the remainder of his prison sentence, APD said.
