Woman accused of hitting 110 mph while driving with unbuckled child in the car on Alligator Alley

A woman was arrested by a Florida Highway Patrol trooper on Wednesday after being accused of hitting 110 mph while driving on I-75 in Collier County. According to the FHP arrest report, a trooper was parked in the median of Alligator Alley in Collier County at around 9:46 p.m. when they clocked a Kia Forte driving 110 mph in the 70 mph zone. The trooper pulled over the Kia and identified the driver as Leonna Gomes, 26, the report said. Two children were inside the car at the time of the traffic stop, including a 7-year-old in the backseat with no seatbelt on. Gomes told the trooper that the reason for her speed was that she and one of the passengers needed to use the bathroom, the report said. Gomes was arrested and faces a charge of super speeding.
