Three people were arrested after a burglary at a Charlotte County storage unit in which guns, a lawn mower and Pokémon cards were stolen. According to the Charlotte County Sheriff's Office arrest report, deputies responded to Extra Space Storage on Harborview Road on Friday after reports of a burglary. Deputies spoke with the victims, who said they had noticed their storage unit had a different lock than they had used, and that the original lock was missing. The victims told deputies that they had checked their storage unit and found multiple items missing, including over $25,000 worth of Pokémon cards, three firearms, a lawn mower and a weed whacker, the report said. Deputies reviewed surveillance footage, which showed a Nissan Pathfinder and another vehicle parked near the storage unit at around 2:46 a.m. on September 10. Three people, two men and a woman, were seen getting out of the vehicles, the report said. One of the men put on a headlamp and then was seen grabbing bolt cutters from the trunk of a vehicle. Security footage then showed the suspects removing a lawn mower and weed whacker from the storage unit and placing them in the vehicles, the report said. Through investigation, deputies identified the suspects as Ronald Chamberlain, Sara Smith, and Matthew Key. All three were arrested on September 12. Chamberlain faces charges of grand theft of a firearm, grand theft, and burglary of a dwelling while armed. Smith faces charges of grand theft and burglary of an unoccupied structure while unarmed. Key faces charges of grand theft, grand theft of a firearm, possession of burglary tools and burglary of a dwelling while armed.
