Recovery mission underway after equipment sinks off SR 82

LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. (WINK) — A construction accident involving heavy equipment submerged in water has turned into a recovery mission in Lehigh Acres.
The Lee County Sheriff's Office is investigating the incident in the 21000 block of State Road 82. Fire department crews confirmed there was an occupant in the vehicle.
The heavy equipment was submerged in water for an unknown amount of time. LCSO determined this would be treated as a recovery mission.
The Mine Safety and Health Administration is also on scene conducting a parallel investigation. The scene and investigation remain active and are in their early stages.
