Driver arrested on drug possession charge with over $1,400 in cash during Fort Myers traffic stop

A Fort Myers traffic stop led to the arrest of a driver after officers said they found more than 100 grams of suspected marijuana, packaging materials, and more than $1,400 in cash during a vehicle search. The traffic stop happened near Glennwood Avenue and Marsh Avenue on Sunday night at approximately 8:54 p.m. According to the Fort Myers Police Department, an officer detected the odor of burnt marijuana coming from the vehicle. FMPD said approximately 116 grams of suspected marijuana, numerous small bags containing suspected marijuana, more empty packaging materials, and $1,425 in cash were seized during a search of the vehicle. The driver, identified as 25-year-old Cedric Dewayne Thomas Jr., was arrested and taken to the Lee County Jail. He is facing charges of possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell and manufacturing or delivering and possession of a controlled substance without a prescription.
