Lee County commissioners approve nearly $7 million EMS station in Alva

Lee County Commissioners approved a nearly $7 million contract to construct a new EMS station in Alva on Iverson Drive and Palm Beach Boulevard. The station will be approximately 7,800 square feet, with space for EMS operations, living quarters for crews on duty, and other support functions. It is designed to be more than just a place to park an ambulance. The project also includes site and utility improvements, as well as an emergency generator to ensure the facility can continue operating if the power goes out. For Alva, the new station would provide a permanent home for EMS operations in the community. Currently, some services are offered through Fire Station 121, but major EMS services have to come from a station farther away. The project is already included in the county’s capital improvement budget. Commissioners said this project is necessary as Alva continues to grow. With the contract now approved, the county can move forward with construction.
