NAPLES, Fla. (WINK)—
Patty Baker Humane Society Naples provided 136 affordable spay and neuter surgeries through a partnership with BISSELL Pet Foundation.
The surgeries were completed during four community spay days held on July 31, Aug. 1, Aug. 14 and Aug. 15, according to a press release. The clinics used the Patty & Jay Baker Mobile Veterinary Clinic to expand access to affordable veterinary care for local pet owners.
BISSELL Pet Foundation's "Fix the Future" initiative supported the clinics. The initiative helps expand access to affordable spay and neuter services by supporting veterinary teams that provide surgeries, vaccinations and microchips for owned and homeless pets.
Veterinary teams completed 80 spays and 56 neuters across the four clinics. Seventy of the 77 surgeries performed during the Aug. 14-15 clinic were for pets from the community.
"Spay and neuter services are one of the most effective ways we can support pet owners and strengthen animal welfare in our community," said Becca Morris, CEO of Patty Baker Humane Society Naples.
Spaying and neutering pets can help prevent unplanned litters, reduce pet overpopulation and provide health and behavioral benefits. The organization aims to help pet owners obtain important preventive care while supporting responsible pet ownership throughout the community.
