A man was arrested on Tuesday after deputies said he ran a stop sign while on a bike and then ran from deputies. According to the Lee County Sheriff's Office, at around 5 p.m., deputies were patrolling the area of Shangri-La Road and Tropic Acres Drive in Bonita Springs due to recent community concerns about drivers disregarding the stop sign. While deputies were on patrol, they attempted to stop a man riding a bicycle who rode through the stop sign without stopping, LCSO said. The bicyclist ignored the deputies' lights and sirens and continued riding away, looking back at deputies as he did. The man eventually stopped, got off his bike and began running, LCSO said. Deputies deployed a Taser and caught the man. The man, who LCSO has not yet identified, was arrested for obstruction. LCSO said that while the man was in custody, it was discovered that he was living in the United States illegally, and an Immigration and Customs Enforcement detainer was placed on him.
