Body camera footage released from Boca Raton emergency plane landing

A 23-year-old pilot made an emergency landing in the ocean off Boca Raton in August after her plane experienced engine failure and landing gear issues, walking away with only minor injuries. Body camera footage from first responders captured the response, showing a small plane floating in the water as police and rescue teams rushed to the scene by land and boat. "We’re getting word that the occupant of the plane is out... everyone is okay," one responder said. Onshore, officers identified the pilot and confirmed she was unharmed. "She’s not critical; that’s the pilot. I haven’t talked to her at all yet," another responder said. The pilot, Faith Tenkley, told Gulf Coast News that she was on her way to the Bahamas when she experienced a mechanical issue. She said her landing gear wasn’t functioning properly, prompting her to make the quick decision to use the water as a runway. Despite the dramatic circumstances, Tenkley walked away with only minor scratches and bruises. As officers worked to secure the area, they warned beachgoers about jet fuel leaking from the plane. "Hey guys, there will be jet fuel coming out of the plane, so if everyone can come out of the water for now," one officer said. The scene was taped off as authorities continued their response. Authorities confirmed no one was seriously injured in the crash.
