A Cape Coral man was arrested after officers with the Cape Coral Police Department say he stole an E-bike and tried to run from arresting officers. According to CCPD, officers responded to a residential neighborhood in northeast Cape Coral back in August in reference to a reported e-bike theft. Officers say the suspect entered the gated yard of the residence at around 5:30 a.m. and removed the bike, valued at around $2,600, from the property. Detectives with CCPD's Property Crimes Unit took over the investigation, and isolated one primary suspect, Keith Michael Brailey, 51. They say that Brailey had been present at the location at the time of the theft. On Wednesday, officers located Brailey at his home. They say that when he spotted the officers, Brailey ran further into his home to avoid arrest. After officers secured the perimeter, CCPD says that Brailey surrendered. Brailey was arrested and faces the following charges: Unarmed burglary of an occupied dwelling Grand theft from curtilage of a dwelling Criminal mischief Resisting an officer without violence DOWNLOAD the free Gulf Coast News app for your latest news and alerts on breaking news, weather, sports, entertainment, and more on your phone or tablet.
