Cocaine hidden in suitcase seized during Lee County traffic stop

LEE COUNTY, Fla. (WINK) — A man was arrested after Lee County deputies said they found two kilograms of cocaine during a traffic stop on Corkscrew Road.

According to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, 4th Precinct deputies stopped a vehicle driven by Freutz Lormine on Wednesday while conducting proactive patrols.

LCSO said deputies established probable cause to search the vehicle and found two kilograms, or more than 4.6 pounds, of cocaine concealed inside.

Video posted by the sheriff’s office shows a law enforcement officer searching a suitcase before removing a blue-wrapped brick marked “DUCATI.” The video then shows the package being cut open and its contents tested.

LCSO confirmed the substance tested positive for cocaine.

Narcotics Unit detectives responded to the scene and took over the investigation, according to the sheriff’s office.

Lormine was arrested on charges of trafficking in cocaine, 28 grams or more, and possession of marijuana under 20 grams, according to LCSO.

The sheriff’s office also said Lormine has a previous criminal history involving robbery.

Sheriff Carmine Marceno credited deputies’ proactive patrols and the agency’s narcotics detectives for the arrest.
