Woman accused of poisoning, killing her two dogs in Collier County arrested in Arizona

A woman who lived in Collier County was arrested in Arizona on a Collier County Sheriff's Office warrant charging her with aggravated animal cruelty in the deaths of her two dogs. According to CCSO, Erica Michelle Evans, 35, was arrested on Wednesday by Phoenix police. In 2024, deputies responded to an apartment on Addison Place off of Immokalee Road in reference to a foul odor coming from the vacant unit. Once inside, deputies found two deceased dogs in a kennel. The apartment had no power and was infested with bugs, according to CCSO. The dogs, a 13-year-old American bulldog named Zora and a 9-year-old English bulldog named Bronson, were transported to the University of Florida for necropsies. It was later determined that both dogs died of antifreeze intoxication. A CCSO investigation reportedly revealed that Evans had intentionally poisoned her dogs with the antifreeze and then left them in the locked kennel in the apartment she vacated. A warrant was obtained for Evans' arrest, and further investigation revealed that she had moved in with family in Arizona. Evans awaits extradition back to Collier County to face her charges.
