Man accused of stabbing victim near Main Street in Downtown Fort Myers

A man accused of stabbing someone in Downtown Fort Myers was arrested by officers with the Fort Myers Police Department. FMPD says that near midnight on Thursday an officer was flagged down by a bystander who reported that a man had been stabbed near Main Street. The officer found the victim suffering from serious lacerations. They were transported to a hospital for treatment. Officers worked to locate a suspect, and eventually detained a man matching physical descriptions walking near Crawford Street and Cleveland Avenue. He was later identified as Marcel Dumel Jr., 41. Dumel was arrested and faces an aggravated battery with a deadly weapon charge.
