Man gets 15 years in prison for 2024 Charlotte County home burglary case as a habitual offender

A man in Charlotte County was sentenced to 15 years in prison after he was adjudicated guilty of burglarizing a home in 2024. According to the State Attorney's office, Anel Angel Estremera broke into a home in 2024 by climbing through a bedroom window while the residents were out. Jewelry, tools and firearms were among the items stolen. A wallet was also stolen from a child's bedroom. The SAO says that Estremera tried to sell the stolen items to people who lived near the scene of the crime. Those people contacted law enforcement and Estremera was later identified by the Charlotte County Sheriff's Office. Deputies conducted surveillance at a residence he was known to frequent. Estremera was later spotted riding down the street on a tricycle but jumped off and ran away when he saw deputies. When deputies searched him, he had the child's wallet, stolen jewelry and a taser on his person, the SAO says. Estremera was sentenced as a Habitual Felony Offender on Friday to the following: Burglary of a dwelling - 15 years in prison and must pay full restitution Grand theft of a dwelling - 10 years in prison Grand theft with a firearm - 10 years in prison Possession of an electric weapon by a convicted felon - 15 years in prison and he must forfeit the weapon Possession of ammunition by a convicted felon - 15 years in prison Resisting an officer without violence - Credit time served Dealing in stolen property - 15 years in prison The SAO says that these sentences are to run concurrently. Estremera was previously on probation for two other burglary cases. He was sentenced for violation of probation and must serve the following: 2021 burglary case: 15 years in prison for burglary of a dwelling and 94.725 months in prison for grand theft of a dwelling 2022 burglary case: 94.72 months in prison These sentences are also set to run concurrently.
