Third suspect arrested in Cape Coral park bathroom arson investigation, police say

A Cape Coral teen was arrested after officers with the Cape Coral Police Department say he was involved in a case of arson and criminal mischief at Koza/Saladino Park that led to the arrest of two other teens. In the initial July 14 incident, officers said that Cape Coral Parks and Recreation employees found the handicap bathroom at Koza/Saladino Park destroyed, with damage to the toilet and sink and debris all over. In total the damage cost around $465 to repair. Video surveillance footage showing two people walking into the bathroom before the damage was done and multiple flashes consistent with an explosion eventually led to the arrest of two teens: Da'Vausten Neff and Trey Pinette. They both face charges of burglary, criminal mischief and arson. CCPD says that during an interview with Trey, officers learned that he had obtained the explosives he used to damage the bathroom from someone else, a friend named Joseph Sanders, 18. Trey was also questioned regarding four other incidents involving damaged bathrooms at city parks, and he reportedly told them that he was not involved in them, and that Da'Vausten or Sanders might have been. Videos taken from Da'Vausten's and Trey's phones reportedly showed the two teens coming out of a damaged bathroom stall. Officers say that the footage also showed a different suspect who they later identified as Sanders. Texts obtained from Trey's phone reportedly showed Sanders asking for several videos of the incident at Koza/Saladino Park. Officers made contact with Sanders on Thursday, where he reportedly refused to speak to them without a lawyer. He was later arrested. Sanders faces charges of arson, burglary and criminal mischief.
