ESTERO, Fla. (WINK) — A woman was arrested after the Lee County Sheriff’s Office said she threw a glass jar of vegan mayonnaise through another driver’s window during a road rage incident.
Christine Marie Sweet was arrested Sept. 17 on charges of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and throwing a missile into a vehicle, according to an LCSO arrest report.

According to the probable cause statement, the incident happened Aug. 20 near Corkscrew Road and Three Oaks Parkway.
The victim told deputies she was driving east on Corkscrew Road when a white Chevrolet work van cut in front of her without signaling, according to the report. She said she honked, and the driver of the van began yelling profanities and making an obscene gesture.
The report says the vehicles eventually stopped beside each other with their windows down. The victim told deputies she saw an arm come from the van before she was struck in the face by a glass jar of vegan mayonnaise that landed inside her vehicle.
According to the victim’s account in the report, she then heard someone inside the van yell, “I hit her in her face, go, go, go,” before the vehicle drove north on Three Oaks Parkway.
The victim stopped at a nearby 7-Eleven for medical assistance before taking herself to the emergency room, according to LCSO. A deputy reported seeing a laceration below her eye and a possible injury inside her lip.
The woman also told deputies she had blurry vision and a headache after the incident, according to the report.
LCSO said the glass jar was collected as evidence. The victim also provided a sworn statement and indicated she wanted to pursue charges, according to the probable cause statement.
Detectives located the Chevrolet van Sept. 17 at San Carlos Plaza on South Tamiami Trail, according to the report. Deputies made contact with Sweet and another woman at the vehicle.
According to LCSO, detectives obtained a search warrant for the van and recovered four cameras and two cellphones.
The probable cause statement says Sweet told investigators she threw the jar. A detective wrote that throwing a glass jar at the head of someone operating a vehicle could cause serious injury or death.
Sweet was taken to the Lee County Jail following her arrest, according to the sheriff’s office.
