Woman accused of throwing jar of vegan mayonnaise at victim during Lee County road rage incident

A woman was arrested in Lee County after being accused of throwing a jar of vegan mayonnaise at a victim during a road rage incident. According to the Lee County Sheriff's Office arrest report, on August 20, deputies responded to the Coconut Point Hospital emergency room and met with a woman being treated for a laceration to her right eye. The woman told deputies that she had been involved in a road rage incident. The victim told deputies she had been traveling eastbound on Corkscrew Road towards I-75. While she was stopped near the intersection of Corkscrew Road and Three Oaks Parkway, a white utility van cut in front of the victim without using a turn signal, the report said. The victim honked her car's horn at the van, which caused the driver of the van to begin to yell profanities and flip off the victim. The light then turned green, but the van did not move out of the victim's way, and the driver of the van began to move towards the left turn lane very slowly, blocking the victim's vehicle, the report said. The vehicles ended up next to each other. At the time, the victim's driver-side window was down, and the van's passenger-side window was down, the report said. The victim then reported feeling a sharp pain in her face after seeing the flash of an arm come from the suspect's van. The victim then realized she had been hit in the face with a jar of vegan mayonnaise thrown by the suspect, the report said. The victim heard the suspect yell, "I hit her in the face, go, go, go!" before the van sped off. After sharing the details of the incident with deputies, the victim expressed a desire to prosecute. On September 17, deputies received a call from the victim, who told them that the van involved in the road rage incident was parked at the San Carlos Plaza. Deputies arrived at the location and made contact with the suspect, identified as Christine Sweet, 57, the report said. Deputies conducted an interview with Sweet, who admitted to throwing the jar of mayonnaise at the victim, the report said. Sweet was arrested and faces charges of missile into dwelling and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
