Naples police arrest teen accused of threatening school shooting

NAPLES, Fla. (WINK) — A 15-year-old student was arrested Tuesday after Naples police said she made a social media threat to kill everyone at a private school.

The Naples Police Department said officers responded to the Freedom Institute, located at 2706 South Horseshoe Drive, around 10:54 a.m. after learning about the threatening post.

Officers searched the school and surrounding area and determined there was no active threat, according to police.

Detectives identified the suspect as a 15-year-old student at the school, Naples police said. She was arrested and taken to police headquarters for questioning.

Police said the teen was charged with making a written or electronic threat to kill or conduct a mass shooting, a second-degree felony.

She was later transported to the Collier County Jail, according to the Naples Police Department.
