Driver caught on video passing stopped school bus in DeSoto County

A driver was issued a citation after passing a stopped school bus right in front of a deputy in DeSoto County. According to the DeSoto County Sheriff's Office, video from the deputy's vehicle shows a van passing by a stopped school bus, which had its stop sign extended and red lights flashing. The deputy instantly pursued and pulled over the van and spoke with the driver. In the video, the driver can be heard telling the deputy that they thought the school bus was a construction truck, and that they weren't wearing their glasses. "Sheriff Potter is committed to keeping our entire community safe, no matter what time of day it is," DCSO said. "There is no excuse to pass a stopped bus with children getting on and off. Please pay attention to the road and let's make sure we all get home safe."
