Fort Myers apartment complex warns residents after repeated naked man sightings

FORT MYERS, Fla. (WINK) — Neighbors at a Fort Myers apartment complex say they were shocked after a naked man was seen in their community late Thursday night.

"I was shocked, and it's disturbing to know that we have somebody running around like that when there's kids that live in our community," Teri Hazelwood said.

Late Thursday night, a naked man was seen walking through the Grand Central Apartments. It was caught on several neighbors' Ring cameras.

"Just recently actually, they saw the person on their Ring camera and notified the office," Hazelwood said.

Hazelwood says she heard about a similar incident that happened about a week earlier. Her neighbor told her she was sitting on her back patio at 3:30 a.m. and saw the man running through the back patio area naked.

The apartment complex sent out an email to neighbors on Thursday, asking if anyone recognized the man. The email notified residents that several people had complained about the person and asked if anybody recognized him or knew who he was.

Hazelwood says the incident has not changed how she feels about her home. She says she personally feels safe, but she knows her neighbor does not.

"Until I actually physically have an issue, I'm not going to let it scare me away," Hazelwood said.

WINK News reached out to the Fort Myers Police Department to see if they had any more information and requested the incident report. The department says no arrests have been made at this time.
