Cape Coral's Yonutz looks to sweeten a slow stretch for local businesses

CAPE CORAL, Fla. (WINK) — If you like your desserts over the top, Yonutz Donuts and Ice Cream in Cape Coral has plenty to choose from.

The shop at 106 Hancock Bridge Parkway West specializes in gourmet donuts, mini donuts, ice cream and its signature Smashed Donuts.

The Smashed Donuts pair a donut with ice cream before being pressed together and loaded with toppings. Flavors include Biscoff Cookie Butter, Birthday Cake, Chocolate Brownie, Cookie Dough and Oreo.

Yonutz also serves Smashed Milkshakes, with flavors including Banana Pudding, Strawberry Shortcake, Reese’s Peanut Butter and O-Ree-Yo-Nutz. Customers can also choose from mini donuts, assorted big donuts and even a mini donut decorating kit.

For fall, the Cape Coral location is offering seasonal, pie-inspired treats, including Pumpkin Pie, Caramel Pecan Pie, Chocolate Cream Pie and Cherry Pie donuts. There’s also a Pumpkin Pie Milkshake and fall-inspired Smashed Donuts.

For the past two years, Yonutz in Cape Coral has been named the “Best Donuts of Cape Coral.” Manager Angel Reyes said the community is looking for something different.

“These are just not your typical donuts. They're gourmet. These are fluffy donuts, and just the community just likes these type of donuts. It's like they want something different. They don't want your typical Dunkin' or any other type of donut that you would find here in Cape.”

The shop has also made community involvement a big part of its business, working with local schools and sports teams through events and fundraisers.

“We have definitely been a big part of the community. We do what we call spirit nights with elementary schools, and every event that we attend or we are part of, we always give back a percentage of the sales for that day,” owner Cedric Williams said.

Like many local restaurants, Yonutz has felt the slowdown that comes with the summer months. The owners are hoping to bring more people through the doors while continuing to be a place where the community can gather.

Williams said the goal goes beyond just selling donuts.

“We want to give to the community, and again, in these times, sometimes we need laughter and happiness and fun. And what other place can you get it?”

Yonutz is open seven days a week at 106 Hancock Bridge Parkway West, Suite C-11 in Cape Coral. Hours are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday.
