Fort Myers Mayor Kevin Anderson steps down from United Way board following sexual misconduct allegations

FORT MYERS, Fla. (WINK) — Fort Myers Mayor Kevin Anderson is stepping down from his position on the United Way Board of Directors.

United Way released a statement confirming Anderson's departure from the board. This follows two young men publicly accusing him of sexual misconduct during a city council meeting last Monday.

Anderson said the claims were taken out of context to create a "false narrative."

A week before the city council meeting, Anderson stepped down from board roles at the FGCU Alumni Association and Valerie's House.
