A North Fort Myers woman was arrested after officers with the Cape Coral Police Department say that she invited her family to an Airbnb that she had no access to. CCPD says that on Monday, officers responded to a home on the 3700 block of Southwest 1st Place in reference to a burglary in process. When they arrived, officers found two people inside the home. The two people told officers that their daughter, later identified as Tara Bacon, told them that she rented an Airbnb and invited them to spend the night. They said that Bacon picked them up from their home and dropped them off at the home. When officers later made contact with Bacon, she initially told them that her friend had rented the Airbnb for her. An arrest report connects Bacon to another incident from Sept. 26, where the management company for a property told officers that someone had been staying in a home on the 2900 block of Southeast 16th Street. They said that there was damage to bed sheets, dog poop in the living room and the jacuzzi filled with water. Later, Bacon reportedly admitted to officers that she had entered three separate residences in Cape Coral, mostly through the back lanai sliding glass doors. Bacon added that she would stay inside these houses and use the accommodations, like the showers and baths. Bacon said that in one home, she cooked a pizza and made herself food in another. Bacon was arrested and faces charges of burglary, criminal mischief with damage to property of $1,000 or more and larceny.
